About the Museum
“In the 1970’s, a group of women came together to save a historic train depot. Decades later, it’s a museum reminding locals of how their town began,” --quote from Our State Magazine.
When the town of Lake Waccamaw’s 1904 train depot was abandoned in 1974, the local women’s club came to the rescue and saved the historic building. Now, sitting near the shore of the Town’s namesake lake, the preserved whistle-stop showcases artifacts that date from the Neolithic era to the Civil War to present-day lake life.
The Museum also boasts, “The best little gift shop in the area”
