Mosasaurs once roamed the oceans here 68 million years ago!! Waccamaw Siouan tribe still lives here. Indian canoes are found here. You can dream about the true origin of the lake and see a replica of the famous single cylinder steam boat, the “Bohemian Girl”. You can learn about the mythical figure, Sam Potts, the history of Council Tool Company, see the Dr. Jean Gerome Prosper Formy-Duval exhibit and the history of the shingle industry. Information is also available on the more than two dozen endemic species that exist nowhere else throughout the world. We’ll give you a tour of the museum, caboose and grounds. There’s a beautiful garden outback to explore and have a picnic.

The Lake Waccamaw Depot Museum is a must see destination for the whole family.
